On 12 February 2010 the director of DNW, Professor Georg Eitelberg, gave his inaugural presentation at the Delft University of Technology.
His appointment as part-time professor at the Faculty of Experimental Aerodynamics was settled in April and became effective in September 2009. Through the position of Professor Eitelberg, the University maintains a strong link with DNW, which will be mutually beneficial. This link will strengthen the already nascent areas of collaboration in people and research. Since DNW recruits a significant part of its scientifically qualified personnel from the Delft University, it is beneficial to be involved early in the students' education. The students will be introduced to the capabilities of top level experimental facilities in their studies. Further, both the master level as well as doctoral level research is expected to benefit from the intensified exposure of the University to the issues confronting DNW in its own participation in aeronautical developments. In return DNW will benefit from the existence of a further strong fundamental scientific basis to its own endeavors in addition to the immediate network of the parent institutes.
As examples of increased activity of mutual interest, coordinated research in experimental techniques and in the aerodynamics of engine integration can be named.
